Your 90-Second Video Guide | The Extension Summit 2026

Your 90-Second Video Guide

Everything you need to film and submit. The goal is for attendees to feel like they just watched the most incredible 90 minutes of TikTok of their lives. You're one of those 90 seconds.

Videos due Thursday, October 1st, 2026

Section 01

Recording guidelines

Landscape

Horizontal. Side to side. YouTube format.

Not vertical

No TikTok or Reels format.

The one that trips people up

Turn your phone sideways and turn rotation lock off. That's it. That's the whole trick.

All 50 videos get compiled into one file that streams on a webinar platform. A vertical video ends up boxed in with black bars down both sides, and it looks like a mistake sitting next to 49 landscape ones.

The other one that gets videos sent back

No selling. At all. That includes the soft version, the "I created this program because..." aside that feels harmless in the moment.

Attendees should walk away feeling like they watched 90 minutes of the best education on the internet, not a 90-minute sales pitch. Videos that include selling will be edited or denied, and I'd much rather tell you that now than send yours back in October.

Orientation Landscape onlyHorizontal, not vertical.
Ideal size 1920 x 1080Standard landscape HD. Your phone shoots this by default when held sideways.
Length 60 to 90 secondsNinety is the ceiling, not the target.
Captions and music Please leave both offOur system adds captions automatically, and added music clashes across a 90-minute compilation.
Equipment Your iPhone is perfectly fineThis does not need to be professionally filmed. Good light and clear audio beat expensive gear.
Your intro Under 15 secondsThen straight into the good part. The more free advice you give, the more trust you build.
Selling None, and this one is enforcedNo pitches, no offers, and nothing that implies they have to buy something to understand your point. That includes soft plugs like "I created this so that..." Videos with selling in them will be edited or denied. Your speaker profile is what connects attendees to you.
Supporting PDF Optional, any lengthLinks and logos are welcome in it. It lives on your speaker profile rather than inside your video.
Returning speakers Bring a fresh topicSame area of expertise is fine, but the actual teaching point needs to be new so every summit stands on its own.

Section 02

What to say

There's no required structure here. If you already know how you want to open, open that way.

This section is for anyone who hasn't made a video like this before and wants somewhere to start. Most people find it easiest to cover these three things, roughly in this order.

  • Your name and title. "I'm Angie Mamone, CEO and founder of Behind the Extensions."
  • Your area of expertise. "I specialize in hand-tied extensions, specifically on fine hair."
  • Your most valuable advice or framework. Powerful and specific enough that someone can go implement it behind the chair this week.

If a sample opener helps

"Hey, I'm Angie Mamone. I'm a salon owner, industry educator, and extension specialist from Martins Ferry, Ohio, and today I want to share with you..."

Steal it, tweak it, or ignore it. The only thing I'd actually hold you to is keeping the intro short so most of your 90 seconds goes to the teaching. Think about the one thing you wish you'd known sooner, or the thing you do differently that changed the game for you.

Section 03

Section 06

How to send it in

Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, or any platform you like. The only requirement is that our team can actually download the file.

Please don't send it through Instagram. The compression destroys the quality.

Fastest option

Drop the file straight into the shared Google Drive folder I created for you. Nothing else needed, no email, no link to copy.

Sharing from Google Drive manually

  1. Upload your video to Google Drive

Then right-click the file and select Share.

  2. Open Settings and check both boxes

    • Editors can change permissions and share
    • Viewers and commenters can see the option to download, print, and copy
  3. Add our email

Under "Add people and groups," enter info@justahairdresser.com and hit enter.

  4. Set general access

Change it to Anyone with the link, then change the role to Editor.

  5. Send the link

Hit Copy Link and email it to info@justahairdresser.com with your name and presentation title in the subject line.

Headshots

Headshots are collected on your registration form, but attachments don't always upload cleanly. If yours won't go through, email it to info@justahairdresser.com and we'll add it for you.

Section 07

See it done well

Five videos from past summits. Different categories, different styles, all landscape and all under 90 seconds.

Want to see the whole thing assembled? Watch a previous summit video to see how 50 videos come together back to back.

One tip. Ninety seconds. Filmed sideways.

That's the whole assignment. Due Thursday, October 1st.
