Why Copying Other Stylists’ Goals is Keeping You Stuck
If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking…
“She’s so booked, maybe I should just do what she’s doing.”
“Everyone’s launching a course, maybe that’s my next step.”
“They work those hours, maybe that’s what success looks like.”
This message is for you.
In the latest episode of The Empowered Stylist Podcast, I talk about something I see all the time in our industry: stylists copying other people’s goals and wondering why they still feel unfulfilled, burnt out, or stuck.
Here’s the truth most people won’t say out loud... You can achieve someone else’s goal and still feel completely empty.
Because goals that aren’t rooted in your values will never feel satisfying.
I see it show up like this:
• Opening a salon because it feels like the “next level”
• Adding or removing services just to keep up
• Chasing income numbers without lifestyle clarity
• Working schedules that don’t actually fit your real life
And then wondering why burnout, resentment, or disconnection creeps in.
It’s not because you failed.
It’s because you succeeded at something that wasn’t meant for you.
One of the biggest mindset shifts I shared in this episode is this...
Jealousy is data, not a problem.
When you feel triggered by someone else’s success, it’s not telling you to copy their path. It’s asking you to get curious about what you actually want. The money? The freedom? The flexibility? The way their life feels?
Desire doesn’t mean duplication.
It means clarity is trying to get your attention.
And here’s where most stylists get stuck…
We’re incredible at showing up for clients, working hard, and making things happen. But very few of us slow down long enough to ask:
What do I actually want my life to feel like?
Not what Instagram rewards.
Not what the industry celebrates.
Not what looks impressive.
When you don’t answer that intentionally, you default to copying.
Busy, but unfulfilled.
Booked, but burnt out.
That’s exactly why I want to invite you to something special.
Since 2016, I’ve been hosting a free Vision Boarding Workshop for stylists, and registration is officially open.
This is not about cutting pretty pictures out of a magazine and hoping for the best.
This is a guided experience where we:
• Reflect on where you’ve been
• Identify what you’re carrying that no longer serves you
• Get honest about what you actually want next
• Look at your entire life, not just your business
• Create a vision rooted in alignment, not comparison
Inside the workshop, I’ll walk you through:
• How to stop letting life just happen to you
• How to use reflection as a clarity tool
• How to identify blind spots before setting goals
• Why clarity always comes before strategy
• How to design a year that supports your life instead of consuming it
Every year, stylists tell me the same thing after this workshop:
“I didn’t realize how much I needed to pause.”
“I finally feel clear again.”
“This helped me stop comparing and start deciding.”
If you’ve been questioning your direction, feeling behind, or unsure of your next move, this workshop is for you.
It’s completely free.
A 7-day replay is included.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to show up open.
👉 Grab your spot for the Vision Boarding Workshop using this link.
You don’t need to live someone else’s dream to be successful.
You need a life that actually fits you.
And clarity is where that begins.
I can’t wait to see you inside.

P.S. One lucky winner from the workshop will have a chance to win this Vision Reset Box valued at $275 (details inside of Kajabi once registered).
